How to Fix USB Port on Your Computer Not Responding

Is your computer's USB port not working? Take a moment to read this before you run to a repair centre. You can fix it by yourself if there is no damage to the hardware. Kindly read the post fully before going to try it.

Step 1:
Disconnect and reconnect the USB device. Look for any notification while plugging in. If there is no respond it is your time to continue your reading. Make sure your device is functioning properly. If you can, try it on another system. Why bother trying that? Even if a mouse is not functioning, the laser at the bottom may be lit. So when you connect it to another computer, you can make sure of the device's condition.

Step 2:
Go to Troubleshooting in Control Panel. Click on Hardware and Sound and run the Hardware Devices Troubleshooter. If something comes up fix that. Still haven't fixed the problem? Move onto the next step:

Step 3:
Open Device Manager from Control Panel. You will see Universal Serial Bus controllers. Expand that list and disable and enable all items (e.g. Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller) on the list by right clicking. You should disable and enable them one by one.

Warning: During the step 3 USB devices on your system will not function. If you have a USB mouse it may not respond while the step 3. You can finish the step 3 using Mouse Keys in Windows. To enable Mouse Keys, press Alt+Shift+NumLock on the keyboard. IF YOU ARE HAVING USB MOUSE AND KEYBOARD YOU MUST SKIP THE STEP 3.
